I can not get 1PasswordAnywhere to work in IE8.

It works in safari and on Chrome.

I was at a friends house, was borrowing his pc, had to log into a website. Opened a new tab, went to dropbox, accessed 1PasswordAnywhere and it showed me a blank page.

I right-clicked and chose "View Source". All source code was there.

When i came home, i repeated same steps on Chrome (on mac) and it all worked.

I don't know about IE6 and 7, but IE8 definitely shows a blank page.

However, it seems the 1passwordanywhere HTML file is no longer updating. Is this feature gone as of the latest updates or is this a glitch? I use this to access my passwords on my work machine where I can't install software. I hope this feature is not scrapped l, but if it is then just need to know. Thanks.

pardon a probably dumb q, but I'm new (2 mos.) to Mac after 20+ PC years, and new to 1P ...

I installed 1P on my Admin account on my iMac. Want to run it also from the Std. user account (which was created after I installed apps including 1P in the Admin Acct) but it won't let me install the 1P data there.

Running Setup Assistant from the Std. User account, I can't find the 1P Agile keychain in my Admin acct as an "existing" one when I'm logged into the Std. account.

How can I do this so I can use my 1P logins in the Std. User Acct.?

I copied the Agile keychain into the Std. account's home folder but both before & after I did that, when trying to get 1P to work in the Std Account I get an error message that the data is damaged/corrupted etc.

[Edited} --->I 've viewed the agile tutorials so I think I understand on a practical level how to use the dropbox & keychain, so thanks for any help you can supply or point me to.

I have installed DropBox in my Admin acct and the Agile keychain is now in there ... what next?

I'm not sure if this has been suggested already but it would really help a lot if users could select an alternative login for sites that use a third party service under their own domain name. For example, Disqus, Blogger, Tumblr, Posterous and Get Satisfaction to name a few, can be embedded or used with a custom domain so that it looks part of the site, but it still requires the login details for the third party service, so identifying the required login from the domain in the address bar does not does not work in this situation.

I suggest an alternative method to find the required login, perhaps a searchbox that pops up when requested, or a menus and sub-menus under 1Password in the toolbar and context menu (although that could get complicated with a lot of logins as I have).

And doesn't that mean it could read files on my Mac, not in the Dropbox folder,

Is there a way to pub the client-side Dropbox software in a "sandbox"

This morning I updated to latest 3.3 version. Everything seemed ok until I started this afternoon. The app crashed and I can send a crash report to Apple.

Tried to revert to a previous version in my backup but that is also crashing.

When I try to create a new datafile (deleted the old one then the app asks to create a new one or find an existing) the app shows a form where I can check for the icons and to close that form there is only a button called "Upgrade"
When I push that button the app crashes again.

How can I fix this mayor problem?

Around 8 hours ago, I paid for 1Password and got a browser message that a licence key would be emailed to me. I assumed that to be almost "instantly"

I then downloaded the software and awaited the email(s).

Nothing, none, nada, zilch, etc.

I've checked my mail provider's spam filters and I've checked mine.

Nothing, none, nada, zilch, etc.

So, I filled in the Help facility on the website and asked what was going wrong. Instantly, before any human could have read the query I got a broswer reply saying Email sent. Great, we've found your licence and sent the information in a separate email to the address on file. if you do not see the message(s) within a few minutes, please be sure your bulk or junk mail folder as our emails are sometimes mistakenly identified as spam.

Well, more than a few minutes have gone by, so I've rechecked my mail provider's spam filters and I've rechecked mine.

Nothing, none, nada, zilch, etc.

How long is "a few minutes" supposed to be in this hectic day and age where everyone needs instant gratification? (sweat)
It's a 27" quad core i7 iMac under OSX.6.4.

According to the release notes for 1Password 3.3.0 it now includes native Dropbox sync support. While I think this would be great, I have no idea how to use it.

I have all along been storing my 1Password database in my Dropbox folder for easy synchronization so I don't understand how 3.3.0 is any different. I see no options for Dropbox configuration in the Preferences.

Is this point of this feature to be able to set up my Dropbox credentials within 1Password and have it manage the synchronization instead of letting my Dropbox client do it whenever the database changes?

If I'm misunderstanding then should setting up the Dropbox sync option on my iPad automatically allow it to detect my existing 1Password database on Dropbox?

Hi

I've had this problem for a while - with both Safari 4 and 5.

I'm using the latest 1password 3. Very regularly 1password will be removed from Safari automatically meaning I have to go back into 1password preferences and add 1Password back into Safari, which gets very tedious - mostly on a daily basis.

Also, when 1password is installed Safari can then take up to 5 minutes to become active - it will sit there seemly hung.

In 1password I've tried:
* rebuilding data file
* clearing cache

None of which solves the issue.

I do not have any Safari addons such as Glims etc.

Firefox, meanwhile works fine.

Thanks in advance for help.

Apart from all great features of 1Password there is on thing I am missing badly (or maybe have not managed to configure yet).
I frequently have to use 1-time passwords for different websites.
e.g. the admin interface of a cherokee webserver generates a new password each time you start it up.
Everytime I login on such a site I get the dialog for saving the account data. I would love to have the option "never save for this domain".
Or is there maybe an other way to resolve this?

We are writing a pure JavaScript application. Login happens through custom UI widgets.

I have been able to coax 1Password into filling out a hidden iframe with 'username' and 'password' labeled input boxes. This data can then be read by the JavaScript app to do the actual login when the hidden submit button is pushed. So auto filling with 1Password works.

However, for some reason 1Password never offers to remember the login and password in the first place, even when the hidden form is filled out and the submit button is programmatically clicked.

What does 1Password react on exactly before offering to save a password? I noticed that it didn't seem to react when I signed in to this forum either so I guess the conditions are fairly specific.

Thanks,

I Use 1password at work (IT Admin) for admin People's passwords for intranet, mail, entrance, etc. so Someteimes I need to print a list of user-passwords so I can take the printed page and go to each employ desktop or anywhere to configure things withot depend of my computer screen.

I think that could be 2 way to do it, and the 2 ways could work together.
First: Print folder of passwords. I Mean I can "on the fly" add loggins to a folder to print or select the Sales department accounts folder and print it.

Second: Add to each loggin account in 1password interface a little button to select it (just like itunes) and then i could have the option to print the selected passwords.

Hello all!

I've been living the 1Password life (and really loving it), but there's been one teensy weensy thing that's been bothering me.

I love the big icons in the shelf layout (for the sites that have them), but there are sites where the icon doesn't seem to be loading.

For example, I'd assume Agile would have one. Dropbox too.

I have discovered that sometimes you need to remove extra bits from the URL to get this to work, and have done so with every address, but still nothing with the above mentioned sites, as well as others I'd assume had them.

Thanks much!

Hi, searched the forums, but couldn't find any help on this...

I just cloned my hard drive. Now, when I launch 1P3 I get the starter screen which offers me two options: create a new data file or find existing. When I chose "find existing" I see a folder called 1Password but with an old date and a .pif extension. There's a file in there called data1.pif, also with an old date. Tying to chose and open that does not work. I get "invalid data file".

So next I tried to restore data file from backup. There's a list. I've tried the top 3 or 4 and every time it looks like it's going to work, but then I get this error message:

Keychain Restoration Cancelled...

Failed to restore from backup, cannot move /var/folders/V+/V+4db16zHcOwEIDq58BqHk+++TI/-Tmp-/301431408/1Password.agilekeychain to /Volumes/MyBook/Dropbox/1Password.agilekeychain
Error: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=4 UserInfo=0x102150020 "The file “1Password.agilekeychain” doesn’t exist."

Can I get some help finding the actual, original data file -- and also some support on why the restore option is giving me this error message.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I am using Safari or Firefox on Windows to access my 1Password keychain. I have noticed something that I would consider a bug. Let me know if I m wrong.

If I have a password that has certain characters in it, when I reveal the password in the browser, it only shows the password up to that character. For example, I know one character is the '<' (less than) symbol.

So, if my password is:

ABCDEFG<HIJKLMNO

The browser will only show:

ABCDEFG

So, I end up having to go to my iPhone to retrieve the rest of the password and enter it by hand.

Now, I imagine this had to do with < being part of an HTML or XML tag and thus might be treated differently in the browser, but I wanted to see if this was a known bug or not.

Thanks.

Many sites allow you to reset your password if you answer a couple of "secret" questions, such as "What is your mother's maiden name?" Savvy users...

Many sites allow you to reset your password if you answer a couple of "secret" questions, such as "What is your mother's maiden name?" Savvy users recognize this as having "a back door with a lock weaker than your front door", as one commenter put in at <http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2009/05/secret_question.html>, where many methods for dealing with secret questions are offered, some of them quite good.

I would request that 1Passport address this issue; as a specific example for discussion, I make two suggestions below. In either case, a window would appear in response to a the (new) command "New Secret Answer", analogous to the (current) "New Password" command.

Suggestion #1 (minimal change to 1Passport)
The generated "answer" is a function of three user-specifiable inputs; unlike a random password, identical inputs would always give the same answer. The inputs would be:
(a) Something user types in to identify the question. It could be short, like "Best Friend" or it could be the entire question, such as "What is your best friend's first name?"
(b) The length (#chars) in the answer, also entered by the user.
(c) The user's master password (which need not be entered: whatever "hash" of the master password is retained internally by 1Password will suffice).
I suggest that (b) is required in case the site has a maximum or minimum limit on the length of an answer; perhaps a "standard" length of eight or ten would suffice for all sites?

If user ever needs to answer a secret question or two, the "answers" can be recomputed and pasted in where needed.

Suggestion #2 (more adequate)
The first suggestion has flaws: the answer generated will be different if user has changed the master password since the answer was first generated, or cannot remember the answer's length, or cannot remember the mnemonic to identify the question. These flaws vanish if 1Password would also store a list of responses, each response being a pair: {question mnemonic, answer}.

Go to each and fill them out with test data relative to their states and save them to 1Password as 'Logins'.

Close all three webpages.

Use 1Password to open 1 and use 2s info to populate the form. It works. Open 2 and use 1s info to populate the form. It also works because the form construction is similar.

Now try populating 3 with 1 or 2. Nogo. Good. Now try populating 1 or 2 with 3. Nogo. Good. They do NOT work because the form construction is not similar. Good.

1Passwords 'Other Logins' needs to discriminate and 'recommend' ONLY forms that are similar or almost similar -- instead of all forms that are saved with 'Senator' in the name.

Look at RoboForm Pro for Windows to see how to do this right.

If you need help, I'll walk you through this.

I guess I am the only dunderhead to have more than one password for a given title. I don't know how that turned out to be the case (I think a different entry to a website can fool 1Password into a request to save a username and password, but eventually for the same URL). Sometimes they really are the same username and password. I know I can just delete a duplicate. However, I sometimes I have an old username and password that are different. I can't just put one into the password history. It is a different username and password for the same URL. If I delete it, it will be gone. I would like to make one inactive so I don't see it any longer, but I could still find it in 1Password in case I really should be using the other one.

Obviously, if I had two identities that I wished to use, no change is needed.

Let me give an example. I have three Bank of America entries. When I log in, the URL of the sending page is: https://sitekey.bankofamerica.com/sas/signonSetup.do
I have three 1Password entries for BOA, two of them have https://bills.bankofamerica.com/wps8106/wps and then one has additional specifications. This latter one seems erroneous to me, but I don't want to just delete it. The other is similar. I had put an asterisks in the one that I use. I don't recall how or why the others are also present, but in this instance, I would like to only see the one that works and hide the others.

I hope is it clear that this BOA entry comes from a web page that did not include the URL of the 1Password entry that was saved. Therefore, for me, when I am asked to save a username and password, I am inclined to agree if this is something I have just succeeded in logging into. If it turns out to be a duplicate, no harm and no foul. However, over time, 1Password is generating a number of entries that I do not recall and am now confused. If the entry to the web page is confusing 1Password, then I can understand that additional usernames and passwords might accumulate.

Hi Guys,

Love the app and continue to use it despite the lure of 2 factor authentication offered by Lastpass - see Steve Gibson's Security Now podcasts nos 256 & 257. If you could find a way to implement this (with a yubikey or USB thumbdrive) this would be fantastic.

With several of my bank logins I have pages which ask for email address and then on a second line rather than the whole of a password it asks for the 3rd, 1st & 6th letters of a password - this varies each time I login (these are to be entered into individual entry boxes or chosen from dropdown menus). To do this I have to open 1P app and look them up and type them in by hand. Is there a way to get 1P to understand what is being requested? This would make life much simpler.

Thanks again

Kevin

Hi 1Password,

I'm not sure if this is technically feasible but can you allow for someone to create a chain of passwords so that you can fill in entry boxes across multiple pages. A few websites I login to require details on maybe 2 or 3 separate pages after I click "next". This would be a huge time saver, as essentially I'm just clicking "FILL LOGIN" on each of 2 or 3 separate pages.

I have a Macbook 2 Ghz Intel core 2 duo running Snow Lepoard 10.63; iPhone 3; an iPad wifi and 3G. I originally loaded 1Passport on to my iPhone approx 1 year ago but entered only the Unlock Code but not the master password (thinking I would do that later.) Wrong! I contacted Agile Support some time ago and was told it was impossible to backtrack and remedy the situation.

I am running 1Password version 3.11 on my iPhone and just loaded 3.11 on my iPad. The Macbook has version 3.2.5 The problem is when I try to sync all three units I'm stymied because I cannot set up the sync on my iPhone and it contains all my passwords. (when setting up my iPad and Macbook I properly entered a Master Password but I am still "no go" on the iPhone because it does not have a master password.
Any ideas out there on how I can rectify the situation and have all 3 syncing and have my passwords on all 3 units? Help.
