Hi All,

I know I’m late in the game but I just noticed the problem. I’ve had issues with the new Automatic Updater on 2 Mac.
On the first one, I suspect something went wrong during the update process and the application was left as a non-functional package that wouldn’t launch. I had to replace with a previous version of the application and re-update.
On the second one, when I checked back, there was no application at all! 1Password was simply gone from my Mac.
Not sure whether there is any log file I could send (sweat)

I haven’t been able to reproduce either, but I thought it was serious enough that I had to report it here.

I've got two Macs next to each other, one running 10.6 and the other 10.5. Got the beta notification this morning and upgraded the iMac (10.6) from beta-13 to beta-14, no problems. Fired up the laptop (10.5) to do the same, and got a fatal exception when 1Password tried to load. Downloading an older copy of 1Password makes it work again. Keychain is stored on Dropbox and sync'd fine.

Yes I know that's not much detail, but I can reproduce it easily enough if someone needs more :>

This problem has been around for a few of the recent builds. Auto-updater runs fine to update 1PW. Then Quit 1PW and Quit Safari. When restarting Safari, 1PW toolbar icon is missing. Can reproduce this consistently as long as 1PW is not running. Opening 1PW and then Safari will add the icon, and thereafter everything is OK. Seems to me that after 1PW update it should auto-install in Safari if it's been there previously without having to have 1PW open when opening Safari for first time after 1PW update

Hi:

I am not sure if this is the proper forum to post this question, but the newest beta build of 1PW for Mac says that Dropbox (cloud) syncing is now available for all Mac and iOS devices. It seems to me that this would require a change in the iOS app as well as in the Mac app.

Is there an update in "Approval Purgatory" for the iOS version of 1PW?

Thanks,
Josh

PS> I apologize if this should have been posted in the beta forum.

Hello,

I surely missed something as automatic updater never worked for me

I entered the Terminal command, sometimes ago, to activate it
then I read it was included in one of the Betas (since B 8 or 9, I think)
so I went back to Terminal and changed the "1" to a "0"

still it never worked, so I did re-enter the Terminal command to activate it yesterday AM
at version B 10

nerver was prompted, even when I did opened 1Password itself just a few minutes ago
I am now at B 13, because I specifically checked for updates

the only new thing (useless if I have to update manually) is a new icon in the Dock (useless anyway)

If we want automatic update it should be done in the background, no need for nothing like a new icon popping in the dock
like other programs do, not a wisper about any update, after it is checked to verify for updates

anythink I missed or should correct ?

Thanks

It's not a big deal but I thought I'd mention it just the same. As a footnote, I noticed a lot of work is being done with 'Drop Box' although I personally don't use it. The keychain is being synchronized via DropBox, and is actually "open" on the first Mac.

Hello everyone,

Hello everyone,

We added a new automatic updater in the recent betas that runs as a separate process instead of from within 1Password itself. This change will allow users to upgrade to new versions without being required to start the main 1Password application. Since many users live in their browsers and do not launch 1Password very often, this change will help users stay up-to-date.

This was a fairly substantial change so we decided to disable the new updater by default until we had time to fully test it. You can manually enable the new updater by running this command in Terminal:

Code:

defaults write ws.agile.1Password DevFeatures 1

For this beta, we check for updates every 4 hours and we'll be publishing a lot of betas over the next few days to test this.

The final screen that reports the upgrade was successful needs some UI work done, but with any luck that is the only rough edge you will find.

If you'd like to help up test, please enable this preference and let us know how your next upgrade experience goes.

I've not seen this on earlier versions, as I've not tried it on them.

To replicate:

Search for something "Everywhere" selecting "Everything", and the results are a small subset of logins (and possibly other items)

You must actually make a change to the Login somewhere, e.g. edit the password (which I did)

Press Edit again to finish

I've been experimenting with 1Password and ExpanDrive today, trying to emulate a Dropbox-like remote filesystem on my Amazon S3 account. I've been having a bunch of problems with 1Password -- losing objects from my keychain when I copy it to S3 as well as getting 1Password into a state where I have to actually delete the prefs file to revert back to a usable state.

How to reproduce objects being lost:

Launch 1Password
Command-, to go into Preferences
Click "Move" under the Data File section in the General tab
Change "Where" dropdown menu to remote filesystem
Click "Move to Selected Folder"

The first thing I notice is that a very large portion of my objects (mostly logins) saved in 1Password were not transferred properly. Out of the ~330 logins, only 25 remain(!).

So, I try to revert back:

Command-, to go into Preferences
Click "Choose Another" under the Data File section in the General tab
You can't actually navigate down into any directories or pick a place on the local filesystem for a keychain

Note: There is no way to actually revert back to using a local 1Password keychain that I have found other than removing the $HOME/Library/Preferences/ws.agile.1Password.plist file and starting from scratch.

I'm not sure if these problems are related to the beta version of 1Password or ExpanDrive with S3, but it seems like a definite problem that there isn't a step at the end of moving a keychain to verify that all of the objects in it transferred successfully. In addition, I think you should be able to revert back to a local filesystem keychain if you want to.

Just dropping a post in the beta forum as requested over on the 1Password facebook wall. As posted in the subject, the 4.0 nightly (minefield) hasn't been working with 1P since the XPCom update dropped into the trunk.

The toolbar button changes state when pressed, but no menu ever comes up. The context menu item is listed but never shows 1P's context submenu. The only 1P toolbar item that responds is the main "1Password" item.

I've already done the remove/reinstall the FF extension. It's installed properly in the extensions.sqlite (internal_id: 70, id: firefox@1passwd.com, ver: 3.3.0.BETA-2)

I'm not foaming at the mouth (though I'd *lub* to have 1p working again in the nightlies), but I figured that this might be a good heads up that there might be a bit more to look at.

Oh, this is all on a blackbook 1,1/10.6.4/2GB mem

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help out!

Hi Guys

I just upgraded to the beta a while ago and noticed this file in my dropbox web interface, true its hidden on my mac but I didn't know if it should somehow manage to be hidden on the DB web interface. The file is in the root of my DB folder and not within the 1passwordsync folder as I would have suspected. (Well thats me anyway). I know DB added a few files when I did the update cause I was curious if anything new happened and well it did err well it made some kind of change could have been to the keychain. I wasn't that precise. (giggle)

Please note:

I had the original DB config from the earlier beta, haven't changed a thing and my data file is inside the 1passwordsync folder. I would hope if this is by design this will get created each time errr incase a user deletes it.

I know there is possibly a way to hide it after all I believe DB has some of there files hidden within the Dropbox folder. Maybe you don't want that I dunno.

In the release notes for build 30675 it says, "Added the ability to copy passwords to the clipboard!"

What changed? How is this feature supposed to be used?

I'm asking because I'm finding it hard (not impossible) to get it to copy the password to the clipboard so I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Double-clicking a revealed password doesn't highlight it, which would be the expected behavior. To get the password highlighted, I either need to drag highlight from right to left (awkward) or drag highlight from left to right being careful to start in the whitespace between the field name "Password" and the password itself, since starting from the first character of the password rather than the preceding whitespace fails to highlight.

A recent issue with 1Password has been plaguing me and I was hoping that someone might have some suggestions as to how I can resolve this issue. On my Primary machine (Mac Pro), I use Firefox as the default web browser, and I have noticed that as of a recent beta-build release (not sure which release this issue started with, but I would say the problem began happening roughly 6 beta releases ago, maybe more), when I use the keyboard shortcut of Opt.+Cmd+Backslash to bring up the 'Show Logins' HUD, there is now a 10 second or so delay the first time I issue this keyboard shortcut before the HUD finally shows up.

After it has been brought up once, from then on out it seems to come up immediately just like it used to always do... My problem is this 10 second delay thing which is new.

I have not done extensive testing with this issue with other browsers, other computers, etc, etc... I figured before I began testing it myself, I would ask to see if there was a (relatively) known fix for the issue.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!
